Assistant Curator of Fine Art

 

The Bowes Museum is seeking an Assistant Curator of Fine Art  to join its curatorial team.  The postholder will curate an internationally renowned collection of European art spanning five centuries and will have an interest in, and preferably a good  knowledge of, Spanish art

The Bowes Museum and Auckland Castle are partners, and have between them a significant interest in promoting an understanding and enjoyment of Spanish Art in the North East.  The successful candidate will thus work for part of their time at two sites, The Bowes Museum and Auckland Castle.

Position: Fixed term post for three years initially, subject to further funding

Salary: £21,500 per annum

Creative Apprentice Level 2

The Bowes Museum is looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised individual to work within its Front of House and Exhibitions team as a Creative Apprentice. The role will involve administrative and technical work associated with delivering the Museum’s varied and exciting exhibitions programme.  Secondments to other areas of operation in the Museum, providing experience in catering, retail, customer services, events management and marketing will give the successful applicants a wide range of experience in a cultural environment. In-house training and the chance to work with Museum professionals in an Accredited, Arts Council England Major Portfolio Museum will provide post holders with a high quality training experience.

The apprentice will also study for a Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Cultural Venue Operations at Sage Gateshead, operating in partnership with Gateshead College, the regional provider for Creative Apprenticeships in the North East.

Hours: 37 hours per week Monday - Friday (to include attendance at Certificate training sessions provided by 

Sage Gateshead and Gateshead College).

Salary:  Minimum Apprenticeship wage, with paid study leave and support for travel expenses.

The Bowes Museum is looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised individual, with exhibition experience and a passion for inspiring young people aged 13 – 25 years old, to play a central role in developing and delivering the forthcoming exhibition  and related events:

 Artist Rooms: Robert Mapplethorpe. 28 November 2015 to 24 April 2016 

Contract length: 50 days / 375 hours (August 2015 to April 2016)

Salary:  £5,000

Education Assistant

The Bowes Museum is looking to appoint an inspirational Education Assistant to deliver workshops to young people aged 4-18 years. 

This post is funded until 31 March 2018.  

Hours: 37 hours per week. 

Salary: £14,140 per annum.
