For its 30th Summer production Castle Players brings Shakespeare’s classic tale of ‘vaulting ambition’ to the stage, in the grounds of the Museum. Superstition, chance and opportunity haunt Macbeth’s journey from loyal commander to despotic king, and having achieved his ultimate goal - to be crowned King of Scotland - he must face the inevitability of his own destruction. The Three Witches, Duncan’s murder, Banquo’s Ghost and the driving ambition of Lady Macbeth have haunted the stage for over four centuries in the drama that bears witness to the bloody hand of Fate. Tickets/prices available from www.thewitham.org.uk 01833 631107. Booking opens 1 May.
Gouache, an opaque form of watercolour, was always more popular in Europe than the English tradition of transparent watercolour. It has many attributes in that it can be used thickly like oil painting or in rich washes similar to watercolour. Join artist Linda Birch to create your own work inspired by the Museum’s collection of Gouache paintings.
