General Access and Fire Safety Improvements
The Bowes Museum is a Grade I listed building, in recognition of its glorious architecture and historical significance. The nature of the building itself alongside this highly regarded status does present challenges. Current legal requirements are met with regard to access issues and fire safety, but the staff and trustees at The Bowes Museum would like to raise these standards well above the basic requirements. Signage and orientation information around the building will be improved to meet the needs of all users, complemented by continued staff training and professional development.
