Gilmonby Hoard

These three ingots found with the bronze items of the late Bronze Age Hoard suggest that the hoard was left by a metal worker. The copper ingots were the starting point for a bronzesmith. They would be broken up, melted and mixed with lead. This molten alloy was then poured into a mould and cooled.
