Steelyard

Part of a Roman steelyard; a balance where weights attached to a longer arm measure the weight of the contents of a pan suspended from a shorter arm. There are three holes visible for such suspension on this steelyard. It is made of bronze and is approximately 10cm long. It is part of the original Bowes Collection.
