Butterknowle Cooking Pot

Medieval bronze skillet, 24cm high and 16cm in diameter. It has 3 legs; 2 of which show signs of ancient repair, making them shorter than the third. There is a flat hooked handle decorated with concentric circles, as well as a looped handle attached to the base and side of the skillet. Around the belly of the skillet run three raised ribs. This is one of a group of 4 pots found in Low Butterknowle Colliery.
