Grave Cover With Female Effigy
Medieval grave cover with a faded carved outline of a woman. The stone is grey with white veins running through it. An iron and lead rivet suggests there may originally have been a brass attached. Deeply cut lettering, probably originally fitted with brass letters surround the edge of the slab, and tell us that the woman remembered was a member of the Conyers family (local nobles). It has straight sides, measuring 17cm thick; 177cm long; 78cm wide at the head and 51.5cm at the foot.
