A natural mineral stream produced this "petrifying" effect. This sculpture shows a grotto or cave with a figure in the centre. A small cross has been added to the natural sculpture. This example was brought to the Museum by Josephine and John Bowes in the nineteenth century, but only removed from its original packing in 1997.
