Woman's Dress

Lilac silk dress, shot gold. It is trimmed with rows of silver grey gimp.
The later 1860s saw attention shifting to the back of dresses. The design of this one draws attention to the back. The bodice has a rounded fish tail trimmed with braided to emphasise the shape. Also at the back is a bustle bow, which exaggerates the fashionable shape that the bustle creates underneath the skirt.
