Woman's Day Dress
Cotton muslin dress printed with checked design in cream and brown with a woven zigzag design. Delicate lace trims the over sleeves. This dress is believed to be worn as a wedding dress in 1852. However, the dress is not typical of 1850s styles. It has been concluded that the date of the dress is approximately 1837-41 and was perhaps altered in the 1850s. The sewing techniques of the dress, the style of sleeves, skirt and neckline and the fabric have been altered.
