Women's Summer Dress

Dress of white cotton muslin, printed with a mauve stripe in a chain design, trimmed with satin and lace. The small puff at the top of the sleeve was a fashionable detail in 1861 for day wear. This summer dress illustrates the crinoline at its widest and is a fine example of the fashions worn by the elegant French women in Boudin's paintings.
