Wedding Dress
Cream ribbed silk trimmed with cream lace. The bodice is boned and the tight sheath-like style is achieved by Drawstrings in a back section of the skirt to give a soft bustle effect. This style, elaborately trimmed with ruching and pleated flounces is in the latest fashion. The square neck has later been lowered for evening wear. Before 1886 marriages had to take place before 12 noon and low necklines were not considered suitable for morning wear.
