Doll

China dolls, made of glazed porcelain, were produced in Germany, France and Denmark and popular for the 1840's. This boy doll is unusual in having a bald head for a blonde wig which is of animal skin, probably lamb. The majority of china heads had moulded hair, painted black. He is dressed in very fine velvet tunic and breeches, linen shirt, stockings and leather boots (one missing) and a peaked cap trimmed with ostrich feather. Size: Height: 38 cm
