Figure of a lion carved in sycamore, a miniature copy of Thorivaldsen's "Lion of Lucerne". The recumbent, dying lion with a broken stake in its side lies beside two spears and two shields; its paws rest on a shield with the lilies of France and beside it is a shield with a Swiss cross. The base is inscribed "HELVETIORUM FIDEI AC VIRTUTI".
