Snuff box, c.1853
This snuff box is made in gold, decorated in coloured enamels in green and white and precious stones. The centre is a trophy of flags, scrolls of parchment and scales of Justice, and the sides are decorated with a band inscribed (in French) - 'One can't safeguard the future of a nation by the abuse of force, the violation of laws'. Size: Length 8 cm.
