Jug

'Caterer' jug of truncated cone shaped form with projecting lip and loop handle fitted with a hinged white metal cover; domed and surmounted by a knop in the form of a artichoke. The hinge has a projecting thumb-piece also in white metal. The jug is moulded with four bands upon which is moulded in shallow relief: - 'What tho my cates be poor take them in good part, may you have better cheer but not with better heart'. In between these bands are raised ovals inset in ovals enamelled turquoise blue against a grey ground edged in brown. The wording is picked out in yellow against a blue ground. Size: Height: 28 cm
