Vase

Vase of rectangular shaped form with two flattened sides and two shaped sides. One of the flattened sides decorated in slip and sgraffito with a scene, which depicts Ulysses, Pomona, Minerva, Bellona and Cibele. Minerva is seated on a plinth, which bears the date 1845. The reverse side is decorated with pseudo-ancient Greek figures. The ends of the vase are decorated with formal leaf ornament.
Probably made for the Greek section of the Paris Exhibition of 1867.
