Tobacco Jar and Cover
Tobacco jar with inner and outer cover. The vase is of square section with canted corners. The lip flares outwards and is moulded with scrollwork and shell ornamentation. The whole is raised on four lions paw feet, the tops of which are moulded with lion masks. The cover is of pyramid form, the lip flaring into a border moulded with shells and scrollwork. The body of the cover is pierced with holes of varying sizes. Decorated on two sides with Japanese figures and in the other two with flowers, scrolls, fish and flowers. The canted corners are decorated with flowers, foliage and insects. Size: Height: 23.3 cm.
