Watch

Woman's watch in gold with enamelled decoration and seed pearls in the form of a flat shell. The watch is domed front and back and is chased to give each side the appearance of a curled snail-like shell, with engraved matting, acanthus leaves and other formal motifs, with traces of black and white enamel. On both sides the 'shell' appears to curl round circular enamel showing a putto against a black ground, this enclosed in a crescent-shaped frame of seed pearls. The case hinges at the left to show a plain interior, the dial of white enamel with black Roman hour numerals and minute dots. Size: Height: 4.5 cm.
