Longcase Clock
Eight day longcase clock by Thomas Humphreys (1791 - after 1864) of the Bank, Barnard Castle (1821047) and The Market Place, Barnard Castle (1855-64). Humphreys was apprenticed to Robert Thwaites 1806-11 and went as a journeyman to John Bolton in Chester-le-Street 1812-15. Longcase clock is of oak, cross-banded with mahogany, raised on four serpentine bracket feet. The dial is arched, the lunette painted with a scene of a man shooting with a dog. The dial is white, painted in black with Roman hour numerals, and minute band. The hands are pierced and engraved brass, with both rococo and neo-classical motifs in the designs.
