Watch
Silver pair-cased watch by Robert Grinkin (d.1660), London. The oval outer case is completely plain, slightly domed at front and back, and hinged to the left. The inner case is cast with a fluting on the form of a shell on front and back, against a matted ground. The bow hangs from an acorn finial. The front hinges at the top to show a plain silver dial, engraved with chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and minute divisions. A gold watch by Grinkin, fairly reliably said to have belonged to Oliver Cromwell, is in the Royal Collection.
