Chest of drawers
This chest of drawers is constructed from oak and decorated with veneers of rosewood and ebony, with ivory details.
The chest on drawers developed from the medieval chest which was used to store valuable items such as linens and money. Chest of drawers and chest-on-chests (commonly known as a ‘tallboy’) are both variations of the chest used to store family possessions.
