Strongbox

Strongbox in oak, veneered in rosewood and mounted in gilt-bronze. Its height suggests that it is reinforced with metal. The base has two bolt holes, one on either short side, centre. This suggests that this was a travelling strongbox and that these bolt holes were used for securing the strongbox to the floor of the carriage during transport.
