Console Table
Semi-circular pier-table, with carved and gilded pinewood frame, the top of Spanish brocatelle marble (one replaced). The six legs are carved and pierced as triplets of spirally-twisted laurel sways. Carvings include acanthus, plain and money-moulded bands and laurel. Urns stand on round bosses at the intersection of the stretcher. The centre boss carved as an acanthus rosette. The table was purchased at the sale of the contents of Mentmore Tower, Buckinghamshire in 1977. Purchased with the assistance of the V&A Purchase Grant Fund.
