Cupboard
Joined press cupboard made of oak, decorated with carving and inlay. The inlay is made of small pieces of bog-oak and holly, the natural colourings of the wood creating vibrant geometric panels on the upper cupboard section. Holly is a very pale wood, which is sometimes dyed to produce a range of colours. Bog-oak is a very dark wood, which, with the advent of trade with the Americans, was supplanted by ebony as a material for inlay and marquetry.
