Sofa and Chairs

Small sofa and a pair of chairs of giltwood upholstered in embroidered silk on a black ground. The legs are turned and fluted with paterae carved above on the seat rail, and the backs are spade-shaped, following the curve of the seat. Almost certainly supplied by Monbro fils aine for 7 rue de Berlin for the Chateau de Louveciennes. The sofa and chairs are possibly 18th century, regilded and reupholstered by Monbro in the 1850s.
