Walnut x frame chair with inlay and boxwood stringing. The ivory is set in repeated patterns of six-pointed stars and formal flowers.
This chair is a an example of the revival of early furniture forms are decoration during the mid 10th century. The 'x frame' construction of the chiar is one of the earlier known seat types, while primitive inlay is the earliest form of marquetry.
