Sofa
Sofa or canape of kingwood, upholstered in 18th century Beauvais tapestry. The sofa is raised at the front on short turned and fluted legs with brass and wood castors. The back and heavily sprung seat are covered in tapestry showing birds and animals within a border of flowers.
A bill from Monbro to rue de Berlin, dated 1856, lists in the Blue Salon the cleaning, re-polishing and re-upholstery of a set of 'tulipwood' seat furniture for 400 francs for the sofa, four armchairs and four chairs.
