Table

Oak side table raised on six bulbous-turned legs with block feet joined by stretchers. The carved frieze on this oak table has only been executed along one length of the table. This would seem to indicate that the table was designed for use on a dais, or platform, in a dining chamber. This was cheaper to produce than a more fully carved table, and still indicated social status.
Purchased with the assistance of the V&A Purchase Grant Fund.
