Table Cabinet

This table cabinet is decorated with geometrical marquetry of various woods native to Japan, including zelkova and paulownia. Different grains of woods are contrasted, top create abstract motifs common to the Japanese decorative arts. These are the rai (thunderbolt), ish-datami (checkerboard) and san-Kuzushi (double weave).
