Fire screen

This trestle firescreen in carved and gilded beechwood has a removable panel covered with satin depicting the parable of the wolf in shepherd's clothing. It is stamped 'TH', and has the inventory mark for the Palais des Tuileries for around 1814-1830. The movement of furniture in the royal palaces was strictly recorded and monitored through inventories and marks on the module_collections_objects themselves.
Purchased with the assistance of the Victoria & Albert Museum Purchase Grant Fund.
