Wall Mirror
Part of a pair of wall mirrors, supplied by Monbro, Paris.
These mirrors are made from carved and gilded limewood in the form of large, flamboyant scrolls of acanthus leaves. A bill from Monbro dated April 1856, for the Bowes' Paris house at 7 rue de Berlin, lists the following purchase for the Little Red Salon: '2 large bevelled mirrors, Italian frame, carved and gilded wood', for which they paid 1860 francs'.
