Candlestick
One of a pair of Chinese bronze pricker candlesticks on circular bases. Each candlestick rests on its base by means of three legs, formed by the scrolling tongues of three grotesque animal heads which ornament the lower of two bulbs which form the stem. The second bulb has two lugs in the form of grotesque animal heads with scrolling tongues, between which are insects of exotic birds in the branches of trees. The top pair of the candlestick is decorated with a grotesque dragon, which coils around it. The wax-dishes are shallow with a plain, barrow rim. Size: Height - 22.5 cm; Width of base - 7.5 cm.
