Furniture Mount

Figure of a man wearing a loose toga caught up at the waist with a broad band. In his right hand he holds a bunch of poppies and oak leaves, in his left an emblem which has been broken and lost. His hair is cut short and curled, his mouth is bound by a piece of material tied in a knot at the top of his head. This furniture mount was recovered from the ruins of the Tuileries after it was burnt by the Communards in 1871. Size: Length: 12.5 cm
