Letter Rack
Rack for letters or notes, formed of a series of half round sections of mother of pearl, raised one above the other, each engraved in French, with the day of the week, and each inscription is surrounded by a border of foliate scrolls. The mother of pearl sections are riveted onto a rectangular gilt bronze panel, edged on either side with a raised border. The top has two mere women, with scrolling tails and winged arms, these combine to support a tear shaped loop which suspends the rack. The base is decorated with a fan shaped panel from which depend swags of simulated material, on either side of which are two circular garlands. Size: Length: 32.3 cm.
