Furniture mount

Rectangular plaque from a piece of furniture depicting amorini playing amidst clouds at an altar from which clouds of smoke rise. One is seen blowing a horned instrument, the others play and gambol with a chain of flowers and foliage. Recovered from the ruins of the Tuileries after it was burnt by the Communards in 1871. Size: Length: 16.3 cm.
