Square Piano
Square piano by Haxby of York, the mahogany case stringed and feathered in holly and boxwood, the fascia boards of satinwood cross-banded with kingwood and set with an oval plaque of sycamore with inked inscription: "HAXBY / YORK / Fecit 1794". The stand, with square-sectioned, tapering legs, also of mahogany with similar stringing, is probably twentieth century. The extreme treble and bass keys are marked inside the case in ink: "375 July 1794". Five octave keyboard, ivory naturals with ebony accidentals, the ivory keys double-lined with ink below the accidentals.
