Inkwell-cum-musical box
Inkwell of bronze and gilt bronze with an elongated octagonal plinth veneered in kingwood. Behind the standing figure, a clump of leaves is hollowed to form a pen stand, and at his feet kneels a child banging a drum which forms the inkwell, the lid opened by swivelling the child figure whose head and shoulders also lift off and are set beneath with a seal. The adult figure's head moves when it plays.
