The Communion of St. Maria Madalena de'Pazzi
Mary Magdalen dei Pazzi (1566-1607) lived all her life in Florence. She became a Carmelite nun at the age of seventeen. She was beatified in 1626 and canonised in 1669. A long inscription on a scroll held by two angels on the right records various severe penances carried out by the saint, and also her visions. In one of these visions, Christ gave her commumion while the Virgin Mary put a crown of roses on the head, and angels sang. The singing was heard by nuns. Size: 203.5 x 528.2 cm
