St. Paul commending St. Luke to accompany him to Rome
St. Paul points with his left hand to Rome, with Castel Sant'Angelo at the bottom left. St. Luke is sketching on a board. A young angel holds the sword by which St. Paul was martyred and another holds a mitre. In the foreground to the right two cherubs are looking at either St. Luke's Gospel or his Acts of the Apostles and beside them the winged ox, a symbol of St. Luke. Purchased of the assistance of MLA/V&A Purchase Grant Fund. Size: 104 x 81.5 cm
