Plan your Day

Visit Us

Wherever possible, you should visit the Museum prior to your wedding to discuss your needs with staff and to determine which gallery is most appropriate for you.  We will be happy to answer your questions and give advice.  Before your visit you may wish to consider the date and time of your wedding, how many guests you will have, if you would like music, and whether you would like a drinks reception.

Our Wedding Spaces

Our Wedding Suite is made up of two beautiful rooms, The Jubilee Room and The Music Room, both of which are licensed for civil ceremonies.

The Jubilee Room provides a magnificent setting with glorious views over Teesdale, and can seat 100 people for a ceremony and 64 for a wedding breakfast.

The Music Room provides a more intimate setting for parties of up to 80 guests. The walls are hung with wonderful tapestries and fine art, and has a number of historic musical instruments.

Painted a rich royal blue in colour and hung from floor to ceiling with fine paintings, our Picture Gallery is an opulent setting for larger ceremonies of up to 240 guests, and dinners of up to 120 guests.

For large receptions and discos, our North Lawn is available to hire for you to create your perfect setting in a marquee and dance the night away in our beautiful landscaped grounds.
