The illustrator Nick Sharratt presented signed books to the winners.
The winners of The Bowes Museum writing competition have been announced.
The proud recipients were given signed books by the illustrator Nick Sharratt in front of the second Children’s Laureate Anne Fine, on Saturday 20 July.
Bethany Pallister won the 10 -11 age group, Martha Harrodine won the 7 – 9 age group and Jack Connor was the winner in the under 6 category.
The runners up were Esther Wallace for the 7 – 9’s, Archie Connor and Arthur Young for the under 6’s.
The children had written stories about The Alien Beach Party exhibition which was created by the Museum’s GeTINvolved group and featured some weird and wonderful creatures that were inspired by both our collections and Nick Sharratt’s books.
Nick Sharratt was at the Museum to open his exhibition Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants which runs until 3 November.
Visitors to his exhibition will be able to find out all about his childhood, what inspired him to become an illustrator and meet a host of the characters he has created throughout his career, including Tracy Beaker, Daisy, Hetty Feather and Pirate Pete.
