Your first blanket, christening robe or granny’s old teddy, all these things can hold sentimental value and The Bowes Museum would love to find out more about the textiles that matter to you.
Our textile conservator Cecilia Oliver, is holding an informal and relaxed story sharing day where you can bring in your cherished items and tell us more about them as well as find out how best to clean and store them to preserve them for the future.
Cecilia said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to share stories about their items, whether it’s an old football shirt with a smudge of mud down the front from that blocked goal attempt or a much loved thread-bare teddy.
“We’re hoping to create a record of the items that matter to the people of Teesdale so we’ll be filming the sessions as we find out about the object’s history and why it’s important to them.”
Sessions are being held on 26 January 2019 from 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm. They are free to attend but spaces are limited so please book on our website www.thebowesmuseum.org.uk
