The Bowes Centre, is looking for contemporary crafters from across the North of England to take part in a new exhibition.

Based in The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, the Centre complements the existing collections by collaborating with modern artists whose works are inspired by the Museum, its treasures, the surrounding gardens and grounds.

Following on from the successful #Untitled10 2018 exhibition, which showcased the progressive work of 10 artists around the Museum, the Centre is holding another Open Call with an information day on 26 March.

Matthew Read, the Director of The Bowes Centre, said: “We’re keen to build on the exciting achievements of #Untitled10 2018 and this time the focus will be on contemporary crafters, whether that be those starting out or developing their practice, the material making, tools, and processes they use and how these will relate to the reimagining of our collections.”

The online application in curatorspace.com will be open until 29 March, where crafters can place an expression of interest before being asked for a full submission.

There is an exhibition planned for November, with payments of £1000 on selection and a further £1000 on completion for the outstanding candidates.

Works by artists Bridget Kennedy, Stuart Langley, Rachel Emily Taylor, Lisa Smith, furniture designer-maker Nick James, jeweller Hannah Peters, photographer Richard Glynn, designer-maker Ann Gill, contemporary dance artist Eliot Smith and musician Kit Haigh all featured in the first #Untitled10 2018 collection.

Visitors to the Museum will be able to enjoy Kit Haigh’s sound installation in the Music room until 10 June.
