Outreach sessions for young parents in Cockfield.

Outreach sessions for young parents in Cockfield.

Meets on Monday mornings during term time.

Young parents with preschool aged children from the Cockfield area of Teesdale are being sought by The Bowes Museum.

The Museum’s education department has teamed up with the YMCA to hold free weekly outreach sessions for parents aged under 25 at Cockfield Community Café.

There are lots of toys on hand for little ones to play with, including baby rattles, instruments, craft materials, books and dolls.

Gemma Scott, education assistant at The Bowes Museum, said: “This is a great way for young parents in the Cockfield area to get together and have some fun with their little ones in a relaxing environment.”

The sessions take place between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Mondays during term time at Liscombe Hall in Cockfield.

The Bowes Museum also runs Little Treasures, a weekly toddler group, where parents and children can take part in a sing song and a craft activity related to an item in the Museum’s collection.

There are currently spaces in the afternoon Little Treasures session, which runs from 1pm until 2.30pm on Wednesday.  It costs £2 a week, which is payable half termly.
