Outreach sessions for young parents in Cockfield.

Meets on Monday mornings during term time.

The Bowes Museum is holding free outreach sessions for young parents from the Cockfield area of Teesdale.

The education department has teamed up with the YMCA to hold a weekly activity group for under 25's with pre school aged children at Cockfield Community Café.

There are lots of toys on hand for little ones to play with, including baby rattles, instruments, craft materials, books and dolls.

Excitement's building as The Bowes Museum gets ready to unveil its summer exhibition, LEGO®: Building The Bowes Museum.

Superb sculptures, thrilling trails and fantastic fun are on the agenda for all who visit as the Museum is turned into a playground of the imagination by renowned Artist and Brick This creator, Steve Mayes.

Horology expert to visit Chinese Knowledge Exchange event

The Bowes Museum's horology expert and Director of The Bowes Centre is going to China to take part in a prestigious conference.

Matthew Read will deliver a keynote speech about the Silver Swan, how it works and the challenges involved in its preservation, at the two day event in Beijing focussing on clocks, watches and automaton. 

 


Exhibition inspired by The Bowes Museum showcases designers of the future

9 April - 12 June, 2019

Visitors to The Bowes Museum can see work by talented up and coming designers that's been inspired by our collections.

Students from the Northern School of Art (BA) Textiles & Surface Design degree programme have created an outstanding collection of new surface designs for fashion fabrics, gifts, posters and other products that are being shown against the backdrop of our stunning collections in a number of our galleries.

The exhibition will be open until 12 June, 2019.


Summer Fête

9 June, 11.00 - 4.00

Come and join the party as The Bowes Museum celebrates it's birthday on 9th June with a day of fun and festivities.

There will be live music, local food vendors, a chance to enjoy the LEGO® trails and get top tips from Steve Mayes, who designed our fantastic LEGO® models himself and lots more!

Visitors will get a reduced rate entry of £5 for adults and £2.50 for children, free to pass holders and Friends of The Bowes Museum.
