Can you help us stage a special exhibition marking the Queen's Platinum Jubilee?

Send us your memories and pics of souvenirs or street parties that could be included in the exhibition.

The Bowes Museum would love the community's help to stage a special exhibition marking the Queen's Platinum Jubilee from 8 May until 5 June 2022.

The Barnard Castle based Museum is asking for people to get in touch with their memories of the Queen and her visits to Teesdale as well as photos of mementoes and how they've marked her Jubilees in the past for possible inclusion in its documentary exhibition.

The Museum's exhibitions team is particularly interested in finding out how people celebrated previous Jubilees and would also like to hear from people with cook books with recipes that are specifically for the Jubilee, Union Jack bunting from previous celebrations or photographs of street parties and community celebrations as well as Jubilee mugs or other memorabilia that would fit the theme of a street party.

George Harris, the Museum's Exhibitions Manager, said: "We're really keen to hear from people in Teesdale and County Durham about their treasured memories of the Queen and would love to hear their stories. Our plan is to include a street party scene in the exhibition that will flow through a timeline of Jubilees from the Coronation to the present day so we'd love people to have a root around in their cupboards or attic to see if they've anything they'd be willing to lend us.  We want to include spoken history in the exhibition too so visitors will be able to hear people's stories too."

Members of the public are being asked to put their memories in writing and to send photographs of any items that they think may be of interest to:

The exhibitions team will then contact people to find out more about their entry.  The closing date for getting in touch is Thursday, 22 April 2022.
