Half term fun at The Bowes Museum

18 February - 1 March 2019

If you fancy recreating a shiny suit of armour, feeling the weight of WW1 shrapnel, or handling some exotic animals, then The Bowes Museum is the place to be this February half term.

There are lots of fun, exciting and inspiring events for the whole family to enjoy.

On Monday 18th and 25th, and Tuesday 19th and 28th, between 11am and 4pm you can visit the Old Curiosity Shop in the SOLD! exhibition and then have a go at recreating some of the treasures on show with our education team, whether that’s a shiny suit of armour, a jewelled treasure box or making your own peg doll Charles Dickens characters.

On Wednesday 20th from 11am until 3pm you can find out what life was like in the trenches during a WW1 handling session.  Staff and volunteers from the DLI Study and Research Centre will be able to answer questions as you handle a pistol, see shrapnel and find out more about medals awarded during the conflict.

On Thursday 21st the Museum will be embracing wildlife as it hosts a Furry and Scaly Family Fun Day from 11am – 4pm. Come and see some creepy crawly creatures with the incredible ZOOLAB, create crafts and explore the Museum with an animal themed trail.

Have a go at creating block printing patterns in a fun workshop suitable for all led by the education team on Friday 22nd and March 1st, between 11am and 4pm.

Entry is free to all the events with admission to the Museum.
