Egg-citement is in the air at The Bowes Museum, with a superb range of family activities on offer over the Easter holidays.
The action begins with a Family Fun Day on 28 March. In these egg-citing drop-in workshops you can celebrate Easter with a raft of craft activities including: Easter baskets containing a treat; cute lamb and chick pompoms; beautiful bunny ears and an Easter themed hunt. The event runs from 11.00 – 4.00 and is free for children, who must be accompanied by an adult for whom normal admission applies.
Spring has Sprung! at the Museum on 29 and 30 March. See the wonderful daffodils popping up their bright yellow heads in the Museum grounds and be inspired to create a flower picture before decorating a plant pot and planting a sunflower seed to take home. These drop in sessions run from 10.30 – 4.00 and are free for children, who must be accompanied by an adult for whom normal admission applies.
Get messy with Clay Creatures on 31 March and 1 April. Look around the Museum at the range of ceramic creatures on display, then draw your favourite and recreate it using air hardening clay. These workshops, which run from 10.30 – 12.00 or 1.30 – 3.00, are suitable for age 5+ and cost £4.00 per child. There is no charge for an accompanying adult. Booking is required on 01833 690606.
A new activity for this Eastertide is Cyanotype Printing, inspired by the current exhibition Quiltscapes & Quiltline. The event is free for children, who must be accompanied by an adult for whom normal admission applies.
The fun continues with Treasure Boxes! on 6 & 7 April, with an opportunity to look at the Museum’s amazing collection of decorated boxes and to create a treasure box of your own to take home. Sessions take place between 10.30 – 12.00 or 1.30 – 3.00 and must be booked in advance on 01833 690606. The cost is £4.00 per child, but there is no charge for an accompanying adult.
