SOLD! The Great British Antiques Story

SOLD! The Great British Antiques Story

26 January – 6 May 2019

A groundbreaking exhibition looking at the role of antique dealers over the last 200 years - the first time the history of objects and dealers has been the subject of an exhibition staged in a public museum

Featuring 25 stunning internationally important objects, SOLD! will tell the stories of their lives before they became museum pieces.

Items on show include a 9cm high Fabergé miniature table on loan from the Royal Collection, a gilded warrior bought for just £16 in 1960, belonging to the V&A Museum, and a wealth of objects with fascinating stories behind them from all over the country.

Dr Mark Westgarth also curated the 'Antique Dealers: Buying, Selling and Collecting' exhibition opened until the 25 May at The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery at The University of Leeds. This display reveals the individual character and rich history of antique dealers.Find all details here
